Understanding Your Vacation and Recuperation Benefits in Israel (Updated April 2026)

If you are a migrant caregiver working in Israel, you work hard every day to care for others. That's why it's important to understand the benefits you have earned under Israeli labor law. Two of the most valuable benefits are paid annual vacation and recuperation pay (Dmei Havra'ah).

The Worker's Hotline has released an updated guide that takes effect starting April 2026. Here's what every caregiver should know.

Paid Annual Vacation

Every employee in Israel, including foreign caregivers, is entitled to paid vacation leave each year.

The number of vacation days you earn depends on how many years you have worked for the same employer.

Vacation Days by Years of Service

Years of Service Vacation Days
1-5 years 14 days
6 years 16 days
7 years 18 days
8 years 19 days
9 years 20 days
10 years 21 days
11 years 22 days
12 years 23 days
13 years and above 24 days

Important: These are calendar days as defined under Israeli labor law.
