3 Simple Yet Enjoyable Activities this Quarantine

Never in our living history have we ever stayed at home this much, and yet, there are so many things that we discover in this much simpler life. We discover that it is really possible just to work at home with the use of today’s technology. We discover that we have more time now to spend with loved ones, and that we can play with our pets more often. We discover ourselves even more - our innate resilience and creativity that makes the realities of this fight seem lighter; and even colorful.

This time, more than ever, can we show the next generations that when our trials and challenges came, we made the right decision to go on with the new normal - to continue with life as we accept that we have to adjust, and yet we don’t give up in forging whatever beauty we can with the gifts given in our hands.

Simple, inexpensive, practical - yes! Many of us have started projects at home and have become even more productive during this pandemic. Here are some that I’m sure you’ll find doable:

LEARN SOME MORE RECIPES

The pandemic has left almost everybody home making it the best time to showcase your cooking skills to your kids and loved ones. With hundreds of varieties of delectable choices, cuisines from different parts of the globe will never bring a dull moment to the family. While knowledge could have been more limited in the past, with the advent of Youtube and Google, almost everything can be learned now with just one click.

Morning, noon and evening, we all have to eat, and even in betweens. Believe me, meals can be just as boring if it’s the same over and over, while with a little twist, you may just uncover the magic that will not only make others, but even you yourself crave for some more. The key? Just a little time spent researching on the net!

LET THE FLOWERS BLOOM

Plants and flowers always make one’s place “homier.” While we still have the luxury of time to till the soil, discover your green thumb and help the earth recover. Enjoying the fruits of your labor could be as simple as seeing what you sowed flourishing. Imagine going out of your house breathing fresh air with the aroma of your favorite flowers. Creating your own garden, big or small, would just be an achievement of a lifetime. Try laying down the mat or hanging your hammock, see the beautiful skies and listen to the songs of the birds. Nothing still compares than having a great rest after experiencing the stresses of life.

If you think your space is too small, why not start arranging indoor plants. Organize them as if you are decorating your console with vases with different levels. You would not only be benefiting from its oxygen, but your house would look just as elegant as any mansion. Try small succulents that look like flowers themselves - you’ll be amazed as you take care of these little ones what charm they can lavish on you.

PAINT SOME COLORS

Complete your house make-over by performing some D-I-Y painting. Colors can always affect the mood of a person that’s why advertisers pay a lot of money to marketing experts just to catch the audiences’ attention. Why not try getting that roller and creating that accent wall, or varnishing that old furniture to bring back its glow? It won’t take a lot of time. It just takes a little effort to start, and once it has begun, you’ll find yourself delighted in this modest activity.

If you think your walls and furniture are good enough, why not check out your favorite online store, you’ll be surprised there are so many choices for “Color-By-Number” paintings. Starting as an amateur is actually the way to commence on almost anything. We all start as students before we become experts. Check out the different designs, start anytime you’re free, and once you finish just one small project, you’ll understand the natural joy it brings.

It’s a tough time, but we humans are tougher. This pandemic would not be over soon - take it as your best opportunity to discover your intrinsic artistry.
