Majority of people who went abroad to work is to earn more than what their country can offer. The value of the currency is way too high in other parts of the world and it became a main attraction for workers to leave their loved ones back home and look for  greener pastures. Some of them of course went abroad just to run away and find another life in a foreign land.

But not everyone is lucky. In other countries, the income will rely solely on monthly salary and allowances. Others doesn't have the luxury of receiving work bonuses or even free accomodation. Worst thing is, they also need to pay for their apartment rentals and buy their own food.

Here in Israel, you are entitled to a significant amount of money or Social Rights every year of service. Although housing, medical insurance, food, water, gas, electricity are deducted from their 4,300NIS salary per month, caregivers are somehow contented with the basic minimum wage they are receiving per month which ranges from 3,200 - 4000 NIS. Some are lucky to have more than that from generous employers.

Last July 13, 2014, Kav Laoved Official Facebook page posted an updated calculation of Caregiver's Social Rights by years of service which was officially imposed the very next day, July 14, 2014.

Here are the calculations for your reference:

Years                                    Vacation Leave:                                         Recuperation Pay:

1 year               12 days X 172 NIS          =     2,064 NIS            5 days X 378 NIS          =    1,890 NIS

2 years             12 days X 172 NIS          =     2,064 NIS            6 days X 378 NIS          =     2,268 NIS

3 years             12 days X 172 NIS          =     2,064 NIS            6 days X 378 NIS          =     2,268 NIS

4 years             12 days X 172 NIS          =     2,064 NIS            7 days X 378 NIS          =     2,646 NIS

5 years             14 days X 172 NIS          =     2,408 NIS            7 days X 378 NIS          =     2,646 NIS

6 years             16 days X 172 NIS          =     2,752 NIS            7 days X 378 NIS          =     2,646 NIS

7 years             18 days X 172 NIS          =     3,096 NIS            7 days X 378 NIS          =     2,646 NIS

8 years             19 days X 172 NIS          =     3,268 NIS            7 days X 378 NIS          =     2,646 NIS

9 years             20 days X 172 NIS          =     3,440 NIS            7 days X 378 NIS          =     2,646 NIS

10 years            21 days X 172 NIS          =     3,612 NIS            7 days X 378 NIS          =     2,646 NIS

Holidays Payment:

Every caregiver is entitled each year to 9 days of holidays or festivals according to their nationality and religion. These days should be given to you as your day-off. However there are employers who requires a 24/7 attention and care from caregivers, especially those who are incapable of being alone and take care of themselves. In this situation, if the caregiver is working on a holiday, He or she is entitled to a 258 NIS payment per day. The calculation will vary on how many days he or she was required to stay.

On the other hand, if the caregiver took more than 9 days of day-off in regular days, the extra days should be deducted from the total number of her Vacation Leave.

Now, some Manpower Agencies has different calculations for caregiver's social rights. Some of these are lower than Kav Laoved's calculation and some are even higher. It really depends on your employer if they will follow your agency's advise or Kav Laoved's. In any case, you have the obligation to ask your agency's advise first before discussing this matter to your employer. If you'll receive a much lesser amount of money than what Kav Laoved requires, then you are free to visit their office after your agency refused to acknowledge your complaint. Furthermore, your employer also have the right to validate all the informations presented to them by you or your agency.
