Are you considering resigning from your job?

The following are a few things you should know before resigning:

1. Caregivers may resign from their job at any time, but they must fulfill a number of obligations including giving the employer prior notice before resigning. You can find more information about the days of prior notice in the image attached to this post.

2. The failure to provide prior notice before resignation or leaving the patient before the expiration of the notice period may result in being expelled from Israel for violating the license terms.

3. Even when a worker resigns, the employer is required to pay him all the benefits he has accrued during employment, such as vacation days and recuperation.

4. If the worker lives in the patient's home, the employer must permit the worker to live in the patient's home for an additional seven days after the working relationship ends or provide him for this period another suitable place to live.

5. Depending on the geographical area concerned, caregivers may switch between employers who have permits to hire foreign workers.

6. Workers who resign from more than three employers in two years (not due to the employer's transfer to a nursing home or death) will be scheduled for an Immigration Authority hearing. Depending on how the hearing goes, there is a possibility that the workers may not be able to continue working in Israel.
