About Me
I was born in Germany and have been living in Israel for a very long time. I am a graduate of the (now defunct) Kalisher art college in Tel Aviv. I am working in the art field as a cartoonist and have published my work in local newspapers and comic magazines in print in Israel and abroad as well as on various web blogs . My experience working as a care-worker dates back to the beginning of the millennium when I worked at one of the AKIM hostels in Jerusalem -"Beit Julia" (which was the first of its kind) . A hostel designed to integrate people who were moderately to more severely mentally challenged into the community . My work consisted of providing guidance and physical help where needed. The residents at the hostel were aged 40- 70. This job ( like any caregiving job) required the ability to listen , to understand and "read" the group dynamics , to mediate conflicts and react never impulsively but from a place of thoughtful empathy with whatever situation may arise. Until about three years ago I worked through the "Goldman" agency in Jerusalem with various elderly gentlemen with various needs. Some of them required help with getting dressed , showers, some required company for a few hours throughout the day. I also did help with cleaning. I did especially enjoy the one on one relation ship that developed which is different from working with groups of people the way I was used to from my work at AKIM . References by request.
