Announcement for Migrant Caregivers in Israel: Minimum Wage Increase
iSavta | 01.04.2026
Starting April 1, 2026, the minimum wage in Israel will increase. This change applies to many workers across the country, including migrant caregivers. It is important to understand how this affects your salary and when the new amounts will appear in your pay.
New Monthly Minimum Wage
The minimum monthly wage will increase from:
6,248 NIS → 6,444 NIS
This is an increase of about 196 NIS, or approximately 3.3%.
Caregivers will begin to see this updated salary in the May 10th paycheck, which covers the salary for April 2026.
Payment for Work on Weekly Rest Day (Shabbat)
While the monthly salary change will appear in the May salary, payment for work during the weekly rest day (Shabbat) must already be updated starting April 1, 2026.
This means if you work on Shabbat or official holidays, the payment should reflect the higher wage rate immediately from April.
Other Wage Updates
Along with the monthly salary, other related payments will also increase:
- Hourly wage:
34.32 NIS → 35.4 NIS - Daily wage (approximate):
Around 250 NIS → around 258 NIS
The daily wage is important because it is often used to calculate vacation days, sick days, and notice period payments.
Shabbat and Holiday Pay
If you work during Shabbat or Israeli holidays, the payment must also increase according to the new wage rate.
The payment should be at least around 438 NIS for work during the weekly rest day, depending on the specific work arrangement and hours.
Recuperation Pay (Havra’a)
There is no change to recuperation pay (Havra’a) at this time. The amount remains the same according to the current regulations.
Important Reminder About Net Salary
Even though the minimum salary is increasing, the amount you receive in your hand (net salary) may be lower than the minimum wage due to permitted deductions. These deductions may include:
- Health insurance
- Housing
- Food
- Other legally allowed expenses
It is also important to remember that the weekly allowance is considered part of the salary.
Stay Informed
Understanding these updates helps caregivers make sure they are receiving the correct salary according to the law. If you are unsure about your pay, it is always a good idea to check your payslip carefully and ask your employer or agency for clarification if needed.
This wage increase is intended to help workers keep up with the cost of living, and caregivers should be aware of these changes so they can better understand their rights and earnings.
